CINCINNATI PSYCHOANALYTIC INSTITUTE

REGIONAL PROGRAMS

COMMUTERS

In the past few years the area served by the Institute has come to be broadly defined as anywhere within 2 to 3  hour driving distance of Cincinnati.  Some candidates in the Analytic Training Program and students in the Advanced Psychotherapy Program commute to the Institute.  Increasingly, faculty also have traveled to the Indiana University Medical School in Indianapolis, the University of Louisville Medical School, the University of Kentucky in Lexington, and Wright State University in Dayton to conduct seminars for psychiatric residents and other mental health professionals. The potential for effective training in psychodynamic principles for psychiatry residents through long distance, interactive teleconferencing technology has been explored in a joint program with the University of Kentucky Medical School in Lexington.

As more and more students in all of the Institute’s educational programs commute to Cincinnati  from other cities in Ohio and from neighboring states, every effort is made to schedule classes and other activities in a manner respectful of the additional effort commuting requires.  A Commuter Committee of faculty and students meets periodically to discuss ways of meeting the special needs of the commuting student.
