Psychotherapy Training Programs

Advanced Psychotherapy Program

In today’s mental health environment, determining and providing appropriate, meaningful psychotherapy services requires the highest level of assessment and treatment skills. The two-year Advanced Psychotherapy Program (APP) prepares students to meet these challenges, offering mental health practitioners the opportunity to deepen and expand their skills in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, focal therapy, and advanced clinical assessment.  The program consists of two seminars, one in theory and one in technique, and a clinical case conference. Classes are held on Fridays through two academic semesters per year. The APP curriculum integrates the multiple perspectives present in contemporary psychoanalytic thought and models of practice.

Qualified applicants are mental health professionals in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, psychiatric nursing, and counseling. Participants are expected to carry a minimum of three cases in intensive psychotherapy throughout the program, and to meet weekly for individual supervision with Institute faculty. Students are encouraged but not required to be currently engaged in, or to have previously completed, a personal intensive psychotherapy or psychoanalysis. All courses are accredited for continuing education credit. The annual tuition is $2,500.00
