The Frederic T. Kapp
Memorial Library
The
Frederic T. Kapp Memorial Library became part of the Cincinnati Psychoanalytic
Institute in 1981. Dr. Kapp, a member of the faculty from the founding of CPI,
willed the Institute a substantial collection of books, which formed the core of
the library. The collection expanded with another gift from the private library
left by Dr. Maurice Levine. In 1990 The MacLeod Fund was established for the
purchase of library materials.
Over
the years, the Kapp Library has become a major
psychoanalytic research and
reference center, with a current collection of over 4,000 books and 30 circulating
journals. The
Library reaffirms and encourages the Institute’s commitment to research,
scholarship, and community involvement.
Membership in the Kapp Memorial Library
is open to the public ($50/year, $25 students), and students in all of the Institute’s educational
programs have free library privileges for the duration of their studies.
It is
a valuable resource for
faculty and candidates, as well as tri-state mental health professionals. The library offers
special programs, a full range of services including computer searches and book reviews. The library
also provides reference services via fax (513-961-0803) and e-mail
(LJones@3001.us).
