1/2 Day Workshop: Indepth Psychotherapy of the Late Adolescent

On July 13, 2012, CPI held a half-day workshop focused on analytic approaches to the treatment of adolescents. Dr. Mia Biran discussed her work with a 15-year-old patient, and Drs. Ed Kohn and Sydney Anderson shared their clinical perspective about the material. The workshop emphasized the ways in which a psychoanalytic approach can help clinicians understand adolescent patients and deepen the therapeutic work by bringing the patient's inner world into the treatment room.

The presenters and audience members talked about the ways in which analytically oriented treatments can lead to change in the minds and lives of adolescents. It was evident that significant changes occurred as a result of the deepening of the work with Dr. Biran's patient. There was an in-depth discussion of the clinical material, and the audience was highly engaged.

We hope to offer similar events in the future.
